Movies. I hate that word!
I am English. I like to watch FILMS! At a cinema, not a multplex. What is a "plex" anyway? Even the local Showcase asks you to "Deposit Your Trash" during the intro. Nah, but I'll glady throw my rubbish away.
Sometimes I worry about all this Americanism, it's taking away our culture. Even my brother said the word "elevator" not long a go. LIFT! A quarter of the syllables, quicker to spell and say!
Some terms are actually different though, take [french (!?)] fries for example. Very similar to our good old british chips, only without the actual potato content.
It just doesn't seem right somehow that although the American officially speak English, the English are speaking American.
Help SAVE THE ENGLISH - SAVE OUR CULTURE! Hmm that's catchy I feel a campaign coming on...
